GSA/DeCA Commissary Renovation at Laughlin AFB
Our team renovated this 40,000 square-foot federal commissary in multiple phases without closing the store during the busy holiday shopping season.
Ahtna was awarded a $6.9M design/bid/build contract by the GSA to renovate an operational 40,000 square foot commissary onboard Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas. Scope included all interior renovations, HVAC, lighting, specialty refrigeration, controls, roofing, security, fire protection, and interior finishes for the sole commissary serving southwest Texas DoD families. The commissary remained operational throughout the renovations which were phased and sequenced to ensure maximum retail space available for shopper convenience throughout the period of construction. Ahtna successfully delivered a modern state-of-the-art shopping facility that is environmentally friendly and energy efficient.
This 40,000 square foot retail commissary serving the airmen and families of southwest Texas was renovated in eight phases to ensure that the store remained in operation throughout the year-long project, with zero interruptions through national holidays. Ahtna completed this project in July 2014 with zero lost time incidents, to the delight of our GSA and DeCA clients.
This project received an Exceptional CPARS rating.
