SSA Baltimore Megasite Records Center Facility Services, Maryland
As prime contractor, Ahtna self-performed records management at the Social Security Administration’s Baltimore Megasite. This site contained over three million records for active disability, retirement and international claims. Our scope of work included folder retrieval and refile, material and paper dropfile, routine files maintenance including box maintenance and files expansion and special folder searches, as well as folder destruction services (retrieving folders as indicated and arranging and witnessing the subsequent physical folder destruction). Claim folders are filed in a terminal digit sequence in individual boxes. Folders are controlled by using the SSA’s computerized tracking system requiring basic level data entry. The system is the primary source of the SSA’s inventory and management information.
In 2013, the SSA made the decision to consolidate the Megasite records with the NRC Independence, MO facility, – a site also managed by Ahtna. Ahtna was awarded a $3.7 million contract modification to manage the consolidation of the Megasite’s three million records as well as facility closure tasks. The Megasite officially closed on June 2013.
