Ahtna provides leadership in delivering small and large federal construction services including design-build construction at locations nationwide.
Our total management approach ensures functional quality design and compliance with industry construction standards.
Our project and construction managers are supported with state-of-the-art technology to monitor progress, allowing us to proactively inform our clients of any deviations. We keep projects on course, on time, and within budget, and are thorough in investigating ways to complete tasks ahead of schedule—saving money for our clients whenever possible without compromising quality.
We are capable of managing any and all aspects of the construction project lifecycle on behalf of our clients, from cost estimating and constructability review; to field management and construction monitoring; to user and community relations; to activation and commissioning.
Our licensed and certified design, engineering, and construction professionals include veterans and service-member families.
Ahtna is capable of self-performing a wide variety of construction projects, and has maintained an active craft labor pool that includes equipment operators, abatement specialists, general laborers, carpenters, commercial painters, equipment mechanics, and HVAC technicians.
Our Value Proposition
In close collaboration with our clients and subcontractors, Ahtna delivers safe and sustainable building construction and renovation projects for federal agencies in support of their mission.
Scope Definition and Estimating
Ahtna is adept at defining the exact scope for design-build projects. We facilitate design charrettes with key stakeholders, determine design-to-budget constraints, and develop detailed line-item estimates by division and definable feature of work to baseline the true scope and budget of our client’s projects, ensuring cost effectiveness.
Scheduling and Selection of Key Subcontractors
After careful pre-qualification and selection of subcontractors, Ahtna collaboratively develops a detailed and comprehensive critical path milestone and resource-based schedule to identify predecessor and dependency relationships within definable features of work, as well as between trades, to maximize coordination, mitigate trade and sequencing conflicts, and baseline material delivery dates.
Submittals, Davis-Bacon, and Certified Payroll
As a federal contractor, Ahtna is expert at managing the demanding submittal process to ensure that materials, shop drawings, and construction means and methods meet or exceed the project plans and specifications. We also use this process to identify opportunities for value engineering. In addition, our self-perform labor and subcontractors are all categorized and audited to ensure that applicable Davis-Bacon Wage Determinations are met or exceeded, and that Certified Payroll documentation is submitted and confirmed with our detailed billing prior to submitting invoices to clients.
